I recently had the pleasure of visiting the studio of one of Joyce Polance; who, in my opinion, is one of the best painters of flesh in Chicago. Being in the presence of these massive paintings of massive nudes is, one massive experience I will not soon forget. I believe she is currently in search of a gallery. So, anyone out there looking to enrich their galley's offerings with work that promises to impress might want to look into getting in touch with Joyce through her website http://www.joycepolance.com/
Born and raised in Chicago I am a classic proud Chicagoan. As an artist I am trying to get new ideas all the time by talking to people and collaborating with others in Chicago. My Portrait Project has brought me and my work into the homes of hundreds of Chicagoans. ChicagoArts has brought art from Chicago to people all over. I can’t stand complaining, it is to easy to do here. The weather can suck so suck it up, the politics is a machine so get out of the way. If you are “part of the solution” you are the problem. I know why gentrification sucks and I am aware that for some areas of the city it is the best thing since sliced bread, so stop asking me about what I think of it. Life is good, people are fair, nonprofits are beggars with an education, these are some ideas I hold. I also cling to change, I, like everyone don't want to be proven wrong but I am open to being proved not right. As I get older I notice myself excepting less and less as fact. The world is a sticky place and for christ's sake watch where you step.
